Full Pilates Method
After years of teaching and practicing Pilates, we have been led to re-discovery of the original method as designed by Joe Pilates himself. Pilates created an exercise system which has stood the test of time. It is based on his own experience as a gymnast, boxer, martial artist, body-builder and his observations of full body movements in other disciplines like yoga and dance.
Contrology, as he called it, engages your mind to control full body movements.
Pilates apparatus is the essence of the method and starting point for learning the exercises and their orders. The method should be explored as a whole system to fully benefit its practice. Through mat and reformer practice you hone your skills using other apparatus in the studio environment to then take it back to your workouts and other activities.
Pilates Scandinavia
Our apparatus choice is Pilates Scandinavia - made to Joe's original specifications. Each piece is made by a craftsman and Pilates teacher, Fredrick Prag. Stronger springs support and challenge the body and, in our opinion, progress you faster. We have fallen in love with their apparatus since the first workout...
Judyta Kajstura ‘J'
She has always been an active person: from climbing kitchen cupboards when little to exploring parkour in the recent years. She keeps active by kayaking, stand-ip-paddling, slack-lining and mainly swimming, biking and running.
Judyta worked as a project manager for an international bank for eight years, but her passion always was movement. She decided to make a change to her career after being inspired learning parkour. She qualified as a Pilates teacher in 2016 and in 2019 completed Full Comprehensive Training Program for the Pilates Method under Holly Murray at Pi Studio in London. J teaches the traditional method as taught by Joe Pilates with a twist from Holly.
Inspired by Scott, she completed the Swissman Xtreme Triathlon in June 2019. She is involved in organising the Celtman and Swedeman Xtreme Triathlons.
J is a passionate teacher, who will help you to believe in your own movement capabilities and be proud of your progress. Her enthusiasm for movement is contagious!
Scott Balfour'Bonkers'
It has all started in the Scouts, where he learned the craft of people skills. A maths teacher to trade, he ran kayak, keep fit, circuit training, running, ski and orienteering clubs at school. In 1989 he started coaching triathletes and in 1994 became a Level 3 Triathlon Coach.
After giving up the day job in 2003 to prepare himself for Hawaii Ironman, he became a swim and Pilates teacher. He has assisted Hearts Swim Club (poolside and land training) and worked with the City of Edinburgh Performance Squad. He learned from two master coaches Fred Vergnoux and Chris Jones and was invited to improve streamlining with Pilates. One of the squad members was his daughter Kirsty who represented GB in Athens and Beijing Olympics.
Scott is a well accomplished runner, triathlete and kayaker. He is known for endurance sports and famous for racing 12 times in Hawaii Ironman World Championships (podium place in 2012) and gold medal in AG in ITU Long Distance Triathlon in Sweden 2004. He still runs marathons (his personal best is 2:34!).
With over 40 years of experience in teaching, Scott brings many extra skills to the pilates studio and strives to make sessions relevant and enjoyable. He believes you need challenge to make progress.
